Unofficial national mottos of Poland

Poland does not have an official state motto i.e. one that is declared as such by national law.

There are however some mottos which appear commonly on banners, flags and other symbols in Poland.

The phrase Bóg, Honor, Ojczyzna ("God, Honour, Fatherland"), or alternatively Honor i Ojczyzna ("Honour and Fatherland"), appears on many military and other uniformed services' banners.

Another phrase commonly shown on military banners is Za wolność Waszą i Naszą ("For your freedom and ours"). It dates back to times when Polish soldiers fought in different armies in the hope of winning freedom for the host nation and consequently independence of then partitioned Poland

The initials: ONC, which stand for Ojczyzna, Nauka, Cnota ("Fatherland, Education, Virtue"), are placed on the fleur-de-lis used by all scouting associations in Poland. That phrase was created by Adam Mickiewicz, as a motto for a secret students' association in which he was a member, and so it is viewed more than a mere scouting motto.
